Folded House 2015

A seaside Californian bungalow is extended and enhanced by taking advantage of site specific opportunities.

Spaces fold around the perimeter of a double height core at the centre of the new addition, filtering natural light into the interior rooms while ensuring privacy from surrounding apartments on all sides.

Engagement with each existing layer of the original house creates a dialogue with a robust palate of materials and forms. A recycled brick paved floor connects the expansive rear living areas and outdoor terrace, connecting the spaces to create a single large space in which inside and out are one.
